The “Paragon NTFS for Mac OSX”, which cost me $19.99 from their official website seems to have sorted me out, now I can plug any hard drive, no matter the format, and Maverick will read it as it should (read and write). I think I just solved that issue once and for all, but nothing comes for free, as in anything with Mac computers.
